Some calling areas will only accept a 7-digit number (for example 536-8120). Other areas require that you dial 10-digits (for example: 972-614-9220). Depending on which type of calling area you live in, you may need to include the area code in the modem dial string.
ASK YOURSELF…
When you make a local phone call, do you dial the area code and then the number, or do you just dial the number? If you have to dial the area code, you live in a 10-digit area. If you do not have to dial the area code, you live in a 7-digit area.
